We have a situation in our county and are asking for support from all surrounding counties.
I don't know if you've heard about the firing of Sherole Eaton, the Deputy Director at the BOE. If not I'll try to explain it without writing a book.
The republican director was out on maternity leave during oct., nov, and dec, of course through the presidential election. Before the official recount, a rep from Triad came to the office, said he wanted to check the battery in the computers and tabulator. Sherole left the room briefly, and when she returned was horrified when she realized he had removed the hard drive and was replacing it with another. She called the Chairman of the Board, who spoke with the rep, then assured Sherole he thought everything was fine. Sherole didn't think so, so she called the SOS and told others, which brought about an investigation of voter fraud. Sherole had to give a affidavit swearing to what she saw to a congressional committee, anyway she became a whistleblower and a federal witness. The woman who had run the entire election without the director and was given high praise after the election suddenly became incompetent and was fired. The board has broken several laws firing Sherole, and we're trying to get her job back. We are asking that everyone who can, please come to Logan on July 5 at 12:15. The meeting is scheduled for 12:30. We are working on getting a speaker to talk before the meeting, we're starting high and hope we can get someone really exciting.
Sherole is a 65 year old widow, who had to have surgery after the election and they found a brain aneurysm. The board knew this when they fired her, and that stress was something she should avoid. They fired her anyway, knowing she'd also lose her health insurance. The Democrats on the board went along with the republicans. As one of the democrats said in a meeting when we asked for their resignations, "We just normally do what the republicans do."
I hope you will pass along this information, we'd love to have enough people here that the meeting can't be held in the courthouse, make them move it to the street! If you can make it, I look forward to meeting you.
The address of the court house is 1 Main St. You'll take the Rt. 93 exit off 33. At the third light, turn left and down one block, the courthouse is on the left.
Thanks,
Karla
